Other ODBC drivers only handle the ODBC level processing tasks. These dBI ODBC Drivers are wire protocol drivers which means that they handle BOTH the ODBC level processing and the network communication processing in a highly optimized and high performance system. Using these drivers for your dBASE applications eliminates the need to download, install, and configure additional drivers on each client workstation to handle the network communication processing required by many database servers.

Users of dBASE or dQuery applications that have been built to utilize one or more of these drivers where the application will be run on a workstation that does not have dBASE PLUS or dQuery installed.

Note that a dBASE PLUS application will also require the dBASE PLUS Runtime engine to be installed either on the client workstations or a shared network drive.
